Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

The Flecktones have announced the release of their next CD “Hidden Land” on Feb 14th 2006! Happy Valentines Day! I am so excited. I never miss a Flecktones show when they are in Michigan. Since they took a year off, I went to see Victor Wooten @ Calvin this year on his solo tour. Amazing as always!

According to the Flecktones site, they went back to the quartet basics on this album. I can NOT wait!

Life is going smooth…

Things are going well. Work is smooth and positive. We are now garunteed a bonus this month *(to be paid at the end of NEXT month) and we’ve won this contest where each of us will be going to a big dinner near detroit to rub shoulders with some pretty big VIP’s of our company. Also, my promotion is all but sent up! So, all in all, work’s going good.

I am really enjoying this Qumana program. I need to play with it more to get the hang of it, but it is sweet!

Had a really good conversation with Eric from EP on the way home. It’s always good to catch up with good friends. Anyway, I got to go eat…more later…Ads by AdGenta.com

I am now testing the Qumana Editor that http://jordoncooper.comJordon Cooper recommended on his blog. So far, it’s pretty cool. I can write one post, and put it up on each of my blogs.

Not bad.

Writing

I have officially begun writing a book. I will share with you more of the details soon. One exciting thing is that I have been extended a friendly hand from a local Islamic Education center to help me study and understand deeper of their faith. I will be interviewing and learning from their President who just happens to live by me. My hope is that I may not only learn about his faith, but gain a friend out of it as well.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all.

church or Church

I want to be very careful with this ancient word: church

I want to reclaim its means as a people not as a place to “go”

But, how do we do that as we hang on to terms like “church planting” and so on?

Perhaps, we shouldn’t be starting “churches” but seeing ourselves as partners with God’s Spirit. Perhaps there was some wisdom in the ancients as they described themselves as “the way.” (look it up, it’s in there) Perhaps names, labels and so on only get in the way of the true intent of what the way is?

I want to invite people to follow Jesus, to find the ‘Way’ of Jesus…to live a with God life (as Dallas Willard says) in the ‘Way’ jesus did. I’m wondering about dropping all this ‘church’ language except as means to describe who I/we are.

“what church do you go to?” – Irrelevant question?

Maybe we aren’t launching “new churches” as much as we are re-awakening a movement of God on earth. Perhaps we should re-adopt the ancient language of belonging and simply call ourselves “the way” again. Drop all these labels. No one is “emerging” or “missional” we are simply a part of “the way.” What would we do if we didn’t invite others to a service, or a meeting, or a gathering….but into a new way of living life w/ God – or allow their patterns of living w/ God informed our own as well? Do I have that kind of open-ness?

Some of the thoughts that my new friend Noah awakened in me today…so I apologize for the randomness of this post.

A Good Conversation Is Always Good

Mood: remenicent

Listening to: “Where Soul Meets Body” – Death Cab for Cutie

Today, I was able to sit down and have a good conversation with my new friend Noah. He and I have much in common. (Thanks for the time man!)

I am getting ready to “lead” a dialouge on Monday for Enoch’s Path re: the historical

Christmas including a look at the traditions that have been adopted from ancient practices celebrating the Roman god saturn as well as a look into some of the back-story from the Biblical narrative. We will also be celebrating one of the communities birthday’s, so it will be a nice evening celebrating life!

It’s been a cool excersize studying this “back-story” of the Christmas story. Stretching at times, but cool.

That’s all for now. I got to enjoy this time off while it lasts.

I need to learn to love again

See my recent post on my regretable past behaviour towards the church that God loves.
